The plot of The Dark Knight Rises is set eight years after the death of Harvey Dent. The city is now a peaceful place and the organized crime is almost eradicated. However, there are also unexplained things as well. Batman disappeared after that fateful night never to be seen again while Bruce Wayne isolates himself to the society and became a recluse. Feeling guilty because he covered up the crimes of Dent, Commissioner Gordon wrote a resignation speech confessing what really happened, however, he decided not to do it. Later on, Gordon ended up in the sewers while pursing criminals and he fell into the hands of a terrorist called Bane. He escaped and was discovered by John Blake. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne despite being a total recluse, decided to hold a philanthropic party on his house to raise money for charity. There, a burglar called Selina Kyle sneaked into Bruce’s room, took a copy of his fingerprint, and the pearl necklace of his mother. Later on, Selina sold the fingerprint copy to the terrorists and Bane used this to bankrupt the Wayne Enterprises and rob the Gotham Stock Exchange. This then led to the re-appearance of Batman, he confronted Selina about the fingerprint and asked her to lead him to Bane. The cat burglar double crossed Batman and the hero of Gotham City got locked up in a place where only a single kid was able to get out of. While the hero is away, chaos and anarchy ruled over Gotham City. All the prisoners were released and the lower class people held up their own court and passed judgement among the officials of the city and the upper class people. Also, the majority of the police force of the city was trapped underground and had no means of being rescued. The city was a complete disaster, order was nowhere to be found, and even people outside Gotham including the President could not do anything. The city of Gotham was held hostage, nobody could get in or out, and their hero was locked up in a place nobody knows where.
